I was in this production
In an 8th-grade production of THE HOBBIT we were going to get rolled around in wine barrels (immensely exciting), but the wine barrel rental company (?) had *explicit* rules about humans inside the barrels, so we had to just crouch behind them instead. A stinging injustice I feel to this day
the classic cartoon way to illustrate that you had no money was to wear a barrel. things have changed. barrels are now out of reach
