The Indian restaurant, butcher, and boot repair sadly burned down, but hopefully they’ll be replaced by another several dozen homes above retail spaces.

The strip mall with 7-eleven, bakery, Little Caesar’s, a couple retail spaces got torn down; the new four story building w/111 homes and 7 retail spaces should be done soon.

And that’s maybe a third of the services available in that radius. Up it to 15 minutes and you get the library, a bookstore, a yarn store, two drugstores, a post office, a thrift store, at least like five more phở places, laksa, a few banks, a bigger liquor store, a musical instrument store, HS…

When a tree branch fell on my car, at least four other neighbours not mentioned above asked me about it and offered to help. During the pandemic I spent a lot of time on my stoop chatting with the neighbours on their stoop, or off my back porch to the neighbours in the yard in the next building.

I should do that.

When the neighbour’s back porch down the block started to catch on fire, there was enough foot traffic on the street that someone walking by spotted it and yelled “fire!” just as I was about to get in my car where I keep a fire extinguisher, which I was able to grab in time to get the fire out.

We’re on an exchanging-keys level of trust with four other households on my 60x122ft lot. We have two bedrooms, a basement with laundry, bike storage, and home office, and a lovely shared courtyard. The corner store owners at the end of the block greet us by name and give my kid candy sometimes.

Was it the “AI summary” of search results? That’s a good place to find clear, detailed information that may or may not describe reality

Greenland is not in the EU. As citizens of the Danish Realm, Greenlanders are EU citizens, but Greenland’s is one of the EU’s Overseas Countries and Territories that are outside of the Union.

Important to stress that although case and hospitalization reporting have been watered down, death reporting hasn't changed since the start of the pandemic. All data sources — local and federal, qualitative and quantitative — indicate that mortality has fallen over time and is currently low.
Kinda crazy how low you can get reports when you stop reporting them.

This country is insane.

And there’s no difference in how I address the illness for myself whether it’s covid or something else—either way it’s rest, fluids, zinc, eat well if I can, and stay home when possible and mask when I have to be around others until I’m feeling better.

I no longer test for covid most of the time because all the credible data I have seen recently indicates covid is no longer more dangerous than other common respiratory illnesses. I don’t think there’s a convincing public health argument for covid testing in most circumstances anymore.
