@chris @edwiebe you could look into RAID5/6 or ZFS. Having a pool of these with redundancy is a very nice way to keep data safe (and of course back up your really important data to a separate drive).

@rachel I've been using Joplin for notes and Tasks.org + baikal (app + CalDAV) for tasks. Works pretty well. I am mostly missing being able to easily drag and drop to reorder list items in Joplin (I haven't tried with Tasks.org).
