It shouldn’t matter, of course, but in some ways this is so alarming because Jimmy Kimmel was so milquetoast and inoffensive, not some anti-Trump fanatic or scathing satirist. This means anyone who expresses even a modicum of decency and truth-telling is fair game.

I can not stress to you how globally humiliating this statement by Trump is for the United States. His complete lack of understanding of, not just the basics of this issue but the extreme political ramifications of it, is a problem. This will not be shrugged off.
