Or to put it another way the reason I love Dunk and Egg so much is that I just really like those two characters at that point in time, and want to follow them around getting in and an out of trouble, I don't need to see how/why they become legendary leaders later in their lives.

But there's gaps and a structure to just have fun with. I think you kind of have to do the first novella to introduce the characters and dynamics, but honestly I'd hope after that they just do new "Dunk and Egg traveling around having weird adventures" rather than going into the second novella.

Really feel like the key is not trying to get bogged down in connecting it to the other GoT lore/stories. We've seen Mandalorian and The Witcher start strong and fun and then slide back into grim lore/fan service stuff, hopefully this can avoid that.

I'm probably too invested in this being good, because the Dunk & Egg stories are probably my favorite thing George R.R. Martin has ever written and it's a perfect conceit for a monster/adventure of the week tv show if done well. We'll see.
