Let’s all speculate wildly, as social media gods intended
INBOX: Air Force One (tail number 29000), which was carrying President Trump from Washington, D.C. to Davos, Switzerland, appears to be turning back. (h/t @PollTracker2024/X)

One thing that will stick with me from this hellish period is the way people and businesses found ways to support their community by using their unique gifts. It has honestly been inspiring.

This is so perfectly delivered, and I don’t think anyone but John could pull it off half as well.

Trump was surprisingly underwhelming trying to sell the operation today. His heart obviously wasn’t in it.

Vance is a last-gasp effort to stir up Trump’s base and, even more importantly, convince white moderates of their cause.

Here’s the thing: Vance doesn’t have that ability. At all.
If J.D. Vance is really visiting here tomorrow to visit the church that got protested because the pastor (get this) is also running the ICE field office in town, you know that this ethnic cleansing campaign is running out of juice. Trump is making J.D. wear and own it.

I guess we now have a new way for folks who move to Minnesota get connected to strangers "I have you considered joining a rapid response network? You wont know anyones real names but you will feel connected"

I hate that accurate descriptions of what’s happening here make you sound like those guys who say putting fluoride in the water makes you bisexual.
Saint Paul Public Schools, one of the biggest school districts in the state, is closed for the next two days because teachers need time to build hybrid learning because unaccountable masked, armed federal government goons have made it too difficult for nonwhite children to leave their homes.

Vile bigotry is the first thing, and the second thing is how would Tommy Tuberville know about mounting any kind of defense from anything
Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

This has been my feeling as well. My hope against hope is that given this, the disastrous polling on DHS lately, and the deadly cold next week, we're closing in on Noem saying "We cleaned as much as we could out of MN, but if the people there want to live among criminals, we won't save them."
the minnesota occupation is, i think, already a political defeat for the administration, and i don't see how it eventually ends as anything other than a major political disaster

As a kid who grew up reading Doonesbury collections from its very start:

Yeah, this is accurate. I was also a theater kid.
Doonesbury? If they're under 60, this is the most annoying kid from your HS debate team. Over 60, this is your Jon Stewart set. Zippy the Pinhead? Former goth teen, now a Free State libertarian in New Hampshire.

Today, we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Many of his best-known quotes cast a beautiful vision of a peaceful and just future, but that vision only becomes reality if people work for it without worrying if it's safe, popular, or expedient.

“ICE might not break into my house and try to take one of my family members, because we’re all white” Fee told me. “But I’m not gonna not care, just because it’s not gonna happen to me. That’s irresponsible, that’s disrespectful, and it’s sinful, honestly.”

On point 2: I got mildly hypothermic once (in April because I am just so very special) and the confusion is real.

In situations like observing where discernment and judgement are critical, be extra careful not to let yourself get to that level.
Some additional notes:

* The cold will make your phone battery go dead much faster than it normally would. Plan accordingly. This is also true of electric car batteries.

* Really intense cold will impair you. Like, you will have trouble thinking. Your body will get stiff from the cold.
you probably shouldn't come to MN right now, but if you must, here's some advice I just gave a friend:

DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH THESE TEMPS. any exposed flesh will get frostbite in minutes.

you have not felt cold like this before. you do not know what to expect, and your clothes are inadequate. 🧵

Every city has its own response to ICE and that’s awesome.

But if you think Minnesota is breaking ICE’s spirit with non-violence because we couldn’t break their bodies, meet me in front of the burned-out husk of the third precinct.
Not to sound like kind of an angry person at the moment, but all of the Philly folks being like we would do this differently. What exactly are we Minnesotans supposed to be doing differently? People are putting their bodies on the line against the full force of the federal government.
