Absurd decision. CBS 58 is firing the great meteorologist Sam Kuffel over instagram posts criticizing Elon Musk's, uh, "arm gesture": www.jsonline.com/story/news/p...
CBS 58 weather reporter Sam Kuffel is out after criticizing Elon Musk arm gesture
Meteorologist Sam Kuffel criticized Elon Musk on social media for his straight-arm gesture some likened to a Nazi salute at the Trump inauguration.

My middle child turns 10 next week. I fell asleep reading on the couch tonight, and when I woke up, he had gotten out of bed, cuddled up next to me, and fallen asleep with his head on my shoulder. Even though my arm was numb, I would have stayed in that moment forever.

This is an almost perfect encapsulation of what's wrong with so many partisans of every stripe:

"A central pillar of American democracy is that no man is above the law. But Mr. Trump isn’t an ordinary man."

Fuck. Off. With. That. Shit.

Nobody means nobody. Not "no ordinary people"
The publisher of @scotusblog.bsky.social argues for dropping the cases against Trump, because he won and they were always political anyways.

Wrong and cowardly. Holding elites accountable for breaking the law is the first step to repairing faith in the rule of law.

Yesterday, we had pizza, and I wrapped the leftovers in foil to store in the fridge. Noticing there were other items in the fridge also wrapped in foil, I grabbed a Sharpie and labeled the pizza with an origin and date. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but I’ve been the subject of ridicule all day.

I’m debating whether I should unfriend everyone on Facebook who shares that annoying ‘if you throw away people because they have different political views’ graphic. I don’t know for sure who they voted for, but I feel reasonably confident, and honestly, I’m just done with saying “bygones”.

As I've tried to tell people who've fretted that Bluesky is some kind of sequestered space of like-minded folks (obviously, it's not), people who vehemently disagree with us will come here in droves. They want to be where we are. The right cannot stay away. They want our attention & outrage so bad.

Everyone says this place feels like old-school Twitter, but my initial experience with the bird app was just people casually chatting—not a bunch of politics. It grew to be that way after Trump. And of course, I’m following all the same politicos here now. I do appreciate the lack of Nazis so far.

“buh when did trump ever follow the rules”

it’s not about following the rules, dipshits, it’s about whether the words carry any legal authority. there is no button he can press to make congress adjourn. congress would have to choose to do it. and that is a distinction that matters.
sorry but article ii section 3 does not say that the president can force congress to adjourn *when it does not want to* and spreading that message is doing trump’s work for him

the american voters who chose this are far less responsible than the reps and appointees and judges in both parties who allowed trump to go unpunished in obvious violation of the public trust and their oaths of office
There's a reason democracies don't let people who tried coups back into power.
