Maybe there is, and maybe the wisper species can be put into another world where there is more powerful magic. But for now I'm just focusing on wispers themselves and their relationship with the natural world around them :>

I think the death of a wisper is the same as the death of any other living being; it's energy gets reclaimed back into the world that made it. If its eaten, it has become a meal that fuels the predator✨ They are just another part of the ecosystem even though they were born from magic :>

'Nature magic' is small. It's that magic that comes from light dappled through leaves, or dewdrops shining on flower petals, or the hum of a choir of cicadas. It cannot be harnessed, only witnessed and experienced. And sometimes, that magic becomes a being with the purpose to experience it all✨

The referred to 'language' of the host bugs are what the actual bug uses to communicate, like cicadas singing or bees dancing. The regular bugs don't have the enhanced intelligence that the wispies give them before fusing.
I also don't think regular bugs notice that wispers are different to them😂
Another strawpage question asks," As the host already has a language before fusing, does that mean that they are somewhat intelligent and conscious before fusing? And how does other normal arthropods perceive fusing? Is it sacred? Is it considered negatively by the family of the host as they lose them?"

Wispers can be put into any world! So there are bound to be other species they end up interacting with and talking to. Wisper communication is one on one telepathy, conveying concepts into the other's mind that can be interpreted. There is no hive-mind accumulative knowledge, each wisper starts anew

I think I can answer all of these together🤔
A wispie can only alter the body of their chosen host so much, so they usually choose one that's already close to what they want. Insects happen to have good bodies for that. There are arachnid, mollusk and crustacean wispies but they're less common \o/

The way I see it, there aren't a fixed amount of wispies because when they die, they just become energy \o/ like light becoming heat or whatever. One day, some energy just happens to magically form another wispie, which will find a bug body to become a wisper✨
