Another library find and one I'd seen before but hadn't had a chance to read before now. A fun, pacy romp through a house full of ghosts past and present, and the surrounding marshes with an Eldritch twist, setting up the pieces for a longer narrative.

After the last comic, I stumbled upon another by the same artist through the library's e-book service and figured I'd give it a shot. It follows the thematic footsteps of Kuningas Menettää Päänsä, with significantly more confident strides this time.

Another one from the library that I picked up based entirely on the charming illuminated manuscript-style cover. This one is bizarre as a reading experience, and I’m not entirely sure what the intended message was supposed to be, or if it succeeded in that.

Picked this up with a few other random comics from the library. A fun read linguistically, my Swedish/Norwegian is VERY rusty, but it’s cool whenever I understand a sentence without immediately checking the English translation.

This is a bit of a weird one, not because the concept is weird (which it is in a fun Eldritchy end of days kind of way), but because the way it’s delivered feels like it’s trying to be multiple things all at once.

Even swinging wildly from genre to genre, I seem to keep stumbling on great comics featuring a haunting of some sort or other. This particular tower holds in it a lot more than meets the eye, heartfelt and heartbreaking all at once.

I have no recollection of where or when I picked this up, but I can safely say I totally misjudged this book by its cover. A dark-ish rogue-centric fantasy full of blood, horror, and consequences. Joyous, exciting, and hard-hitting all at once.

I stumbled upon this manga while looking for something else last night and found myself still thinking about how effective it was in packing so much world and story into just 28 pages. Less is more in this case - swift, stabby, satisfying.

I haven't worked in colour much recently, but this illustration (part of the @losthavenguild.bsky.social Original Classics zine) is TECHNICALLY purple. 😎
Koru is from Per Aspera, which belongs to myself and @cosmichorr0r.bsky.social 💫

Got given this at a zine event I helped run, put it in my bag, then promptly forgot about it for YEARS. It’s a cosy fantasy adventure primarily for a younger audience, with enough wit and charm to amuse me regardless of age. Short and sweet.

Got this short comic collection years ago through Shortbox but put off reading it for whatever reason and what a fool I was - it is a stunningly gorgeous, lavish work of art in design and writing from start to finish. What a thing to behold!

A very charming, funny, and queer take on old Finnish traditions, beliefs and superstitions. It’s an album of several short folklore-infused comics and has that easy, light reading feel of a zine. Entertaining and intriguing in equal measure.

A rotten, thankless trek through mounting snow and suffocating heat, always leading back to the same dusty old shack in the middle of inescapable woodland and nothingness. Without touching on the plot itself, the horror really is in the folk themselves.

I read this after @cosmichorr0r.bsky.social and my thoughts are much the same as his - a phenomenal read in every respect. A crucial bonus note for others who cannot handle horror stories with cute dog characters: do not fear. Cass is safe AND the goodest girl.🐾

My hopes were high after Through the Woods, and this surpassed all expectations. Dreamlike, lyrical storytelling, calculated use of colour and well-paced visual metaphor, a haunting narrative that grows from a creeping drip into a swelling, unstoppable flood.

Our comic isn’t out yet but here’s the most holiday-themed Per Aspera stuff I have to hand:
🎁playing with shiny new toys while bemused parents look on
⚔️bad blood between siblings
🍡party food
😘 weary kisses at the end of a long day

I spent more of it juggling working on a yet-to-be-finished comic, several roadtrips, big moves, deaths, and weddings (including ours 💕) than I did on finished art, but hey I DID do something. 😎
