It’s jarring and intriguing, unsettling in a way that doesn’t feel particularly intentional while also definitely hitting the mark on being the horror it sets out to be. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it, but it made me think about the components of comics so that in itself is fun.

The few written portions are journal entries set out separately to the comic pages, and they’re midway between contemporary dystopian fiction but also have the reflective, philosophical vibe akin to stream of consciousness modernist essays.

There are no lines of dialogue or sound effects of any kind, but it is also a very traditional American style comic with fight scenes and superhero-like framing. The pacing and the storytelling through the scenes that are NOT action-packed feel like slow, creeping dread in a horror manga.

Sleep Token: Teeth of God by Huenito, Fabi Marques, Ryan Swanson, and Nathan Yocum 🌑

This is a bit of a weird one, not because the concept is weird (which it is in a fun Eldritchy end of days kind of way), but because the way it’s delivered feels like it’s trying to be multiple things all at once.
