Can we do the same thing with MAGA relatives?

I’m sure it’ll be ready in about 2 weeks.

Right. The quality of authors like Dostoyevsky, Proust, Tolstoy, etc. is that despite their stories taking place in an unfamiliar setting, the themes still resonate no matter where or when you consume those books. They didn’t sit down to write books for readers in 2025, they just told human stories.

There seems to be a growing discontent that there aren’t enough “white” books these days. It seems less likely that modern books are objectively bad, and more likely that some people aren’t capable of emotionally responding to stories in which they can’t see themselves as the main character.

Yeah I get it to an extent. The focus on subjective experience with art is a somewhat modern phenomenon (ie. Kant). There’s probably a balance but I guess it’s up to each person to decide what they care more about: objective standards or subjective meaning.

Damn dog they even redacted your eyes?

I’m fairly certain that’s Mike Johnson in front.

Nothing says "arts center" like a name on the building with different sized fonts and kerning.

LOL these clowns continually find ways to outclown themselves.

Just to make this more festive: We are Charlie Brown, Bondi is Lucy and the Epstein files are the football.
December 20, 2025 at 1:10 AM
It is 99.5% the latter.
December 20, 2025 at 1:05 AM
You can’t really engage with art without projecting your own values onto it though, can you? Are you saying people should watch/listen/etc. entirely objectively and not consider themes as they relate to their own experience with life?
December 20, 2025 at 12:50 AM
This isn’t the first time a revolutionary tech has threatened art. The camera (painting), synth (music) and CGI (visual arts) all faced similar panic and artists either adapted or they didn’t. The underlying problems artists face are timeless, they just manifest differently according to the era.

If the Dems were a football team, they would be the 2025 New Orleans Saints.*

* Even more so if they lose to the Jets this week.

By far my favorite excerpt from Brooks’s Wiki:

Bereaved Relative: “Doctor, doctor! What was the cause of death?”

Basically I want to live in a world where the IRS can audit men based on their claim that they have a $300,000 penis.
December 18, 2025 at 9:07 PM
I really wish he’d included a size for said $150,000 penis (and, ideally, a scaled chart for every inch above or below this hypothetical size) so every man would know how much to report on their tax forms.

Grow up.

That post was 0% rationalizing it and was (IMO) expressing that maybe it’s not the best idea to assign influence based purely on relative salary, physical eliteness, and celebrity.

We can’t say, “Athletes are so boring, they just say the same BS in interviews all the time and have no personality,” and then when any of them has a personality that doesn’t fit our expectation say, “Athletes shouldn’t be allowed to express themselves if it infringes on my moral framework.”
December 18, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Assuming that anyone with a platform should live and act within your own specific ethical framework and understand the world the same way you do, with any deviation necessitating some sort of vague checklist of justice or reconciliation, feels like an awful way to live.
December 18, 2025 at 7:43 PM
It could be: “I have an idea but I’m afraid to express it to a real person because I’m self-conscious, I’ve been engineered only to agree or disagree with other ideas and not introduce my own, and it’s easier to express my idea to a bot that tells me I’m brilliant.”
