Here in Illinois, ten years ago we saw the consequences of a rampant ideological gutting of government.

It genuinely harmed people. Our citizens hated it.

Trust me – I was elected based in part on just how much they hated it.

"Tens of millions". Why not tens of billions, if you're just making up numbers out of thin air?
Leavitt claims Elon Musk and DOGE "suspect there are tens of millions of deceased people who are receiving fraudulent social security payments" and says they will soon dig into the books

"If you pay into the system *honestly*, you will continue to receive your social security checks," she adds.

I agree with this.

And the *actual economy - vs the headline economy - will start to deteriorate.
At some point the politics of DOGE are gonna tilt. Trump and Musk are hollowing out the govt but not touching the real source of spending: Social Security and medicare. Young people are being deprived of a functioning govt to pay for old people’s benefits.

Musk has made over $25,000,000,000 from tax breaks, subsidies and government contracts. That’s $25 Billion we as taxpayers have both given him directly and had to compensate for. You care about the deficit? Great! Give us our fucking money back.

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races.

This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.
