40% of Republicans say the COVID-19 vaccine has probably or definitely killed more people than the COVID-19 virus.

Few adults (8%) say the false claim that “more people have died from COVID-19 vaccines than have died from the COVID-19 virus” is “definitely true,” but levels of certainty vary widely by partisanship, and an increasing share of Republicans is open to endorsing this false claim. About four in ten adults (43%) recognize this claim as “definitely false,” including one in five Republicans (20%) and more than three times as many Democrats (65%). While most Republicans lean toward this claim being false, four in ten say it is “definitely true” (13%) or “probably true” (27%), an increase from one in four in June 2023, when 7% of Republicans said this was “definitely true” and 18% said it was “probably true.”

BREAKING: The Second Circuit panel unanimously denies DOJ's request to stay the order granting Moshen Mahdawi's release pending his habeas proceedings.

The panel notes that granting DOJ's request "would be Mahdawi's re-detention."

The government now seeks an emergency stay of these orders. Largely for the reasons explained in our opinion in Öztürk v. Hyde, No. 25-1019, 2025 WL 1318154(2d Cir. May 7, 2025), we deny the motion for a stay. As explained there, the government is unlikely to succeed on its arguments that the district court
lacked jurisdiction over Mahdawi's habeas petition. We further conclude that the
government is unlikely to succeed on its arguments that the district court lacked
the authority to order Mahdawi's release. We are also unpersuaded by the
government's argument that the district court's orders prevented it from
effectuating duly enacted law, thereby causing it to suffer irreparable injury. In
fact, immigration removal proceedings have continued in Louisiana,
and
Mahdawi has attended them remotely since his release. Finally, the balance of the
equities tips in favor of denying the stay. Indeed, the practical effect of the relief
the government seeks would be Mahdawi's re-detention.

If South Africa is a sovereign nation, how are we able to send our own planes we paid for to transport white Afrikaners to the U.S., but simultaneously unable to send a plane to return Abrego Garcia et al?
