Recent stats from @endchildpoverty.bsky.social show that 25.9% of children in T & M are growing up in poverty - shameful in 21st-century Britain. ❌

Removing the two-child limit would lift hundreds of thousands of young people out of poverty, including children right here in Devon & Somerset.

Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel.

We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.

Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
“Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK – a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
“We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“This cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.

On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz – the two men tragically killed outside their synagogue yesterday – and with the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day.
Antisemitism, terrorism and hatred can be defeated. But only if we all stand united against them. This attack didn’t happen in a vacuum. Antisemitism is rife on Britain’s streets. British Jews have been living in fear, especially since Hamas’s horrific terror attacks of October 7th.
That must end now. We all must come together to make sure our Jewish friends and neighbours feel safe walking on their streets and worshipping at their synagogues.
Those who preach antisemitic hatred, those who incite violence against Jews – whether online, on marches or anywhere else – must be stopped. It is never acceptable.
I know that, together, we can make sure that our British values of decency, tolerance and respect will prevail.

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

My thoughts are with the victims, our brave emergency services and the entire Jewish community.

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

I recently visited Ukraine as part of the UK Friends of Ukraine Parliamentary Delegation. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

I was inspired by the strength of the Ukrainian people - united in their defiance against Russia aggression - and moved by the touching tributes to loved ones lost during conflict.

Now the focus turns to delivery, and progressing on those points.

Young people in Tiverton and Minehead have to travel far enough already to access post-16 education without this centralisation effort, which I worry will only decrease the accessibility of post-16 education options for my rural constituents.
