This adorable bandit making off with the fountain from our birdbath. I'm sure she was thinking, "I'll be able to wash my hands anywhere!" Until she pulled it out of the water and it stopped working.

This is really the story at this point, or should be. "Delusional Trump Imagines a Boarded-Up Portland" should be the headline on every newspaper and website.

Portland is ... right there. It's a real place. People live in it. People can go look at it. You could call someone there right now.

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

It's always so hard to tell if he's completely lost his mind or if he's just lying.

Trump: "Just before the election an answer was changed by Kamala. She gave a horrible death defying--- election defying answer. And they took the answer out & replaced it with another answer that she gave 5 minutes later having to do with a different subject but at least it wasn't election defying"

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Agreed, I'm sure it's related. I didn't read the interview because my brain just can't. But sending all my good wishes! I'm starting to think my immune system is now completely overzealous rather than under-effective, but still not sure where that leaves me in terms of WTF to do about anything.

I really can’t stress enough that by the time this happens to you—which is how I got diagnosed with EDS—you will wish you’d found out much, much sooner.

“It shouldn’t take needing to have your head reattached to your body for a doctor to realize you have EDS," said me.

Hypermobility is a common, overlapping condition with Long COVID. Upcoming guidelines may make it easier for people to be diagnosed with the syndrome.

Great piece on joint hypermobility, which is common among people with Long Covid and related chronic conditions.

I’d add getting diagnosed can lend important insight into how to protect yourself. Better to know in advance than find out the hard way that, say, yoga could really mess you up.

Furloughed Feds, please don’t hesitate to use available assistance such as unemployment insurance, deferred bill payment, etc. This situation is NOT our fault.

The reason this happened when it did is that they've been approving telehealth in the temporary budget bills. So telehealth ended when the continuing resolution ended. But Congress can still vote on things, and I believe there's a bill to make telehealth permanent that is not part of a budget bill.
rachelgraves.bsky.social
But, no, not buffer period. I would imagine that, if Congress is so inclined, they can make it retroactive to Oct. 1 if they pass it again.

I am very interested to see what's going to happen with my virtual appointment next week! I can't go in person, and I don't feel like it's my responsibility to tell a hospital system what Medicare covers.

YES. Republicans are perfectly content to fuck people over.
joshtpm.bsky.social
This is important. The GOP can open the government literally today with zero Democrats. Just ditch the filibuster. Go ahead. Why won’t they do it?
murshedz.bsky.social
Good to see resolve/resilience from rank and file and House Democrats. Good on @rephuffman.bsky.social daring the republicans to abolish the filibuster ▶️ "[L]et them proceed with GOP votes and let the country see with perfect clarity who owns all the damage and destruction they're fomenting." I wish we could just stop contributing to the federal budget. We'll just fund our own services, thank you very much.
