If it doesn’t survive the washing machine or the dish washer, maybe it was never meant to be part of your household in the first place.

I just need every liberal, progressive, feminist man to understand deep in their bones that every woman—including the most accomplished woman they know—is belittled at their job REGULARLY. Even now.

I dare you to go to Annunciation School and tell our grieving community, in effect, guns don’t kill kids, antidepressants do.

Just shut up. Stop peddling bullshit. You should be fired.

My statement on Ai from the mini-comic as syllabus i made for new class I'm teaching that starts tomorrow! It robs you of your decisions & struggles - and the joy of being surprised. We won’t to be robbed of our learning - this is essential. This & the full mini at post:

a snippet of a mini-comic, at top - straight line stretches from point A to B. Immediately below, same dot at A, then becomes a curving, meandering line that winds through the page and ends at a point with rays and a question mark emanating from it. Text reads: "Nothing can do this for you - for that robs you of experience and conflates answers with learning. Rather, it's all the decisions you make along the way, the mistakes, struggles, and surprises! These pathways you create - this is learning.

No good solution. As a solo parent, weekend conferences are far easier because my kids can stay with others rather than during the week when it takes a small army to keep their school day/activity routine. But really, just travel/conference way less as a parent.

On this day Aug 4, 1944: Anne Frank was arrested after 2 years in hiding.

Not by monsters in uniforms but by neighbors.

Today, governors threaten political enemies with removal.
ICE raids target families.
LGBTQ+ people are banned from bookshelves.

Never again means nothing if you stay silent.

I've been enraged recently that students can't get paid to be an RA for their honors thesis work. Many then choose not to do honors because would rather do the same research but get the paycheck they need to survive.

😡 The amount of bureaucratic barriers being thrown up for me to host an URM student from an urban high school and pay her a small stipend so she can afford to take this opportunity is making me absolutely stabby. Barriers to participation in STEM are real and undiminished.

Medical miracles don't happen overnight. You have to invest in them. Our investments are in trouble.

In a study of professors, women got 378 new work requests over 4 weeks vs 118 for men. Women spent more time on service, advising & teaching; men on research. Orgs should track who is taking extra duties & ensure they are rewarded and distributed fairly. www.forbes.com/sites/kimels...
