My insta is basically all Taylor and this feed is utterly devoid of her. One of these things is not like the other. And this is not rainbow with all of the colors.

TFW you see folks freak about the Canvas/OpenAI collab, announce they’re abandoning the LMS, and decamping to Google. Cause Google really has the moral high ground in the Ed-tech surveillance space.

I got a shower cap for making my bread this week. It is cute and it brings me joy.

I hope everyone finds their bread shower cap this weekend.

@nytimes.com you really need to rethink what counts as breaking news. College football coach retiring is not breaking news.

I’ve had a pretty bad cold for the last week (I hate children), but I’ve learned that all I want for the new year is to be able to eat and breathe at the same time.

I’m about to start reading Fourth Wing. This better be as good as book TikTok says it is.

I finished my project management training today. The real beneficiaries of this are my colleagues, who now get treated to me saying “My PM training says that’s bad so don’t do it” or “My PM training suggests we start meetings by each of us saying what we are grateful for”.

What do you do when you’re used to being the emotionally demanding one in a pair, and suddenly the other person starts being real needy. Asking for a friend.

I may have told my nephew last weekend we don’t have to know how to do math cause we’re pretty, but struggling to do math in the grocery store is still a little shameful.

TFW you get home from thanksgiving, eat second dinner, and regret that you didn’t take all the leftover turkey cause you were worried that was rude.

My goal for the day was not to spend the whole day watching TikToks on YouTube (I’m in my 40s. Come at me). But then a TikTok inspired me when planning a signature cocktail for Thanksgiving dinner.

Well, I’ve learned my lesson. No more goals; more TikToks.

I successfully got my one meeting for tomorrow cancelled, which means I have no more meetings for the next two days. Which means I am officially calling my annual inauguration of “it’s after Thanksgiving and I don’t work after Thanksgiving till January” two days early this year. L’chaim!

Today I learned that in CT, a family of four making $91k qualifies as an ALICE household. Which is shocking to me.

I’m really excited to be working on a series of profiles of women in science for Wired, and the first one is up.

Beauty science is underrated, and I so appreciate Michelle Wong for her beauty science breakdowns. Scicomm on social media is hard and she does it SO WELL: www.wired.com/story/women-...

Misinformation about skincare runs rampant on social media. The chemist behind the Lab Muffin Beauty Science blog is here to clear things up.

In the thriller I am currently reading (& not super enjoying) the heroine just got a call from the police saying we need to talk ASAP about X, which she ignored in favor of going into meeting no one knows about with X. My screams should not be “lazy writing!”

Look, I’ve fallen off a horse. I know it hurts. But if you’re well enough to then go food shopping, you don’t get to yell at the clerk for helping you that you’re having a horrible day.

Boss asks me a techy question:
Me: you want a real answer or a Daddy Schnepper answer?
Boss: a real answer
Me thinking: I really need to stop giving people the choice between the mediocre white man answer and the truth. It’s just more work for me.
