Meet Artemis II: the first mission to send humans around the moon since 1972. I’ll be covering this mission for National Geographic, so you’ll be seeing a lot from me about it, but here’s the first:

Every time I consider letting her live she says something like “I can’t tell the difference between the animals and the aliens”

I’m replaying Mass Effect for the millionth time, and I considered letting Ashley live instead of Kaidan just to have a slightly different experience.

But.

She’s so racist.

Been taking an extended break from social media but I had to come back for this:

NASA announced that Boeing Starliner’s next flight will be a cargo only flight to the ISS. Assuming that goes well (which at this point is not a given), they will then fly with crew.

NASA's manned Artemis II mission could happen as early as February, and there's a huge amount of science planned. This fascinating article explains why this flight will be one to watch.

#NASAWebb has found the first direct evidence of potential moon formation around a giant exoplanet. The discovery is shedding light on how such systems evolve and why moons could be potentially habitable worlds: https://bit.ly/46xGodN 🔭 🧪

Jamie’s track record for designing superhero costumes speaks for itself. He’s amazing!!
Haven't done any pure design work in a while, I wouldn't mind doing some more!
At Marvel I designed/redesigned a ton of characters, including Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, most of the Young Avengers like Wiccan and America Chavez, and Loki. Most of these characters are wearing my costumes or variations on them a decade later, and are the basis for their live action counterparts.

He asked why it was on display at NASA. I explained that it’s so important to remember these tragedies and learn from them so they never happen again.

“But mama, why are there holes in it?”

So we had a discussion about Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia, and how NASA has this on display (it’s from testing after the Columbia disaster, when they didn’t think foam could put a hole in reinforced carbon-carbon).

I was going through my pictures from the Artemis II press event with my 6 year old (we do this for every space-related business trip I go on) and we got to this picture, and he asked what it was. I explained it’s the leading edge of a Space Shuttle wing (and what that means.)

Some good news from space, as the NASA-ISRO NISAR mission publishes its first synthetic aperture radar images of Earth. This spacecraft has a heckin' big antenna (a dish 12 meters across) for bouncing L- and S-band (25- and 10-cm) radio waves off the surface www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-is...

Preliminary images from the most powerful Earth radar satellite ever launched offer a tantalizing glimpse of the science the mission will be able to deliver.
