This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

Science 101. Correlation does not equal causation. Tylenol aka paracetamol doesn’t cause autism. A correlation can lead to all sorts of causal fallacy. Like so. 👇

I've received many messages from concerned constituents over the past 24 hours, asking me about the standing ovation connected to Charlie Kirk in yesterday's session in the House of Commons. Please see my statement on the matter.
Over the past 24 hours, I’ve received many messages from constituents asking whether I stood for Monday’s ovation in the House of Commons connected to the murder of American podcaster Charlie Kirk. The answer is no, I did not stand. Neither did many of my Liberal colleagues.

Let me be clear: I am strongly opposed to political violence in all its forms. I am also strongly opposed to hate speech and discrimination, which unfortunately permeated Mr. Kirk’s work. Furthermore, his violent death in the United States has only led to escalating violent rhetoric here in Canada. We have seen intensified hate speech and threats, harassment campaigns stoked by public officials, and organized mobs trying to destroy the careers of fellow Canadians. The injustice of what befell him last week should not be used to excuse or ignore any of this.

Ignoring the harms that hate speech and harassment inflict on vulnerable communities means abandoning those who fear for their safety in the face of that rhetoric. I will not stand by while Canadians feel dehumanized by violent rhetoric, and threatened by the political movements and actors that wield it.

Poilievre lies about sensible gun laws to get you angry over something that isn't real. No one is taking basic hunting rifles away from game hunters. If you need an assault weapon you're a shitty hunter. This is rage bait. All that MAGA CPC has to offer.

Let's cheer the Canadian women dominating world rugby. They had to crowd source to raise the money to even get into the tournament. Nobody took them seriously. They crushed the New Zealand giants. They are going into the finals.
Come on fellow Canucks - is the real miracle team.
So proud.

AI has value, just not the level of hype that overwhelms us today. Randomly 16 to 40% false outcomes for the best of the best because of computational limits. Humans aren't smart enough to understand complexity of our world, we have computational limits and so too our machines.

White House 'journalists' being told what they can say, well those people are there as part of the masquerade of journalism - a distinction; tax funded researchers being told what to say versus the science, well that is pure fascism.

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
