"Socialism is inevitable" + "genAI is fine until the experts say otherwise" sounds like a comfortable abdication of personal responsibility. There is no monolithic group of experts, and the evidence is clear that genAI usage is antienvironmental and ultimately unethical.

Again, maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but it sounds like you're framing socialism as an inevitability, which is a claim I'm highly skeptical of in a few ways. That this is coming after what sounded like "genAI is okay to use until experts tell us to stop" paints a concerning picture.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding your point, but I don't think imagining that the people behind genAI tech know its cost means much. Capital-driven tech corporations have different priorities than everyday individuals, and costs acceptable to them aren't necessarily acceptable to everyone.
