This'll probably be a fan account for all of the awful animals in my life. If you're all very nice I'll share my projects too

modesty laws prevented showing even one lousy frame of John Waters' PINK FLAMINGOS (1972) in the trailer, so the only footage in it is of people reacting to a screening they just came out of. every single type of extant queer person is contained in the specific sequences I have selected here

great news- this giant decorative board covered in nuts and cones and seeds that my grandma made by herself with materials she collected, arranging and gluing them over several winters, and which has been at my cousin's house, has been deemed "too scratchy" and is coming to my house

It’s set in the 13th century Low Countries. A baker who witnesses miraculous visions meets a boy only she can see. Her closest friend is found murdered the same day the rood cross bleeds at Mass. The miracle draws her into a web of pilgrims and politics as the boy puts her on the killer’s trail. 🐝

No. This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive.

Yep. Part of the reason garment construction is outsourced is due to labour costs. Skilling American workers to do basics won't be cost effective.

I'm a tailor as my side hustle. If I were to make whole garments at scale, basic white t-shirts would start at $70 each.
I say this as a pretty rare American who can sew: we don't have the skillset and among those who do the labor costs are beyond what countries like China and Vietnam can charge.
MacCALLUM: Will American workers make shirts and garments for the same--? Obviously the labor costs are so much cheaper overseas in those places

CHAVEZ-DeREMER: We're gonna onshore, repatriate some of these companies to invest in America directly so that we can build that workforce

I started making impermanent earth art with fallen leaves, flowers, and other natural elements in 2020, after finding Morning Altars by Day Schildkret on various socials. I made this a few months later, when a friend died of breast cancer. It's one of my favorites that I've made so far.

Linen pants I’ve been workin on for a few months now finally done! I’m really happy with the fit/tailoring. Self-lined to a couple inches above the knee, inside out pic cause I’m proud of the seam finishing. Pockets/waist are cotton twill. They were wicked comfortable to wear to work. #craftsky

norse and old english were mutually intelligible languages. movies and TV portray them as if these people couldn't communicate easily, but norse grammarians at the time talked about the anglo-saxons speaking a dialect of norse. here's two norse & old english scholars demonstrating

The Abbey church in caboolture has an incredible collection of stained glass windows assembled from preserved fragments of windows from Winchester cathedral shattered during the reformation. Anyway this piece is my favourite
