I just finished a big project and I’m really proud.
Lost my beloved cat of 15 years last December; between ADD, grief, and sobriety, “decided” to jump into a new hobby.
I wanted to make a coat!
Specifically landed on a Balmacaan made of traditional oilskin. (Lol)
Here’s a thread showing the process!
A bearded man with glasses and light brown skin wearing a fine single breasted overcoat of a slightly antiquated design; it’s made of deep green oilcloth, with the lapel and collar showing the inside is a tan contrasting material. He’s taking a picture in the mirror in a relaxed pose.

Some folks I know wrote a larp where everyone was descended from 1 of 4 societal founders for narrative reasons and I simply Could Not. Genetic diversity is a necessary element of survival for any species!

RFK's goal is to kill children, specifically sick children.

If you assumed that was *not* his goal, you'd think that he was failing at an entirely, completely different goal: not killing children.

I picked up this game because of this post, and it’s delightful. sometimes I play with combat enabled because the militia raising system is cool and feels well grounded, but its also such a rich little world-builder. great if you want a specialized and atmospheric civ type game.

Game review (from 2024).
Manor Lords is a medieval city builder that I've made a modest contribution to as a historical consultant & beta tester for.
It tries to depict the middle ages in an accurate way, behind the scenes historians, experts & history addicts have been debating the tiniest details.

You made it halfway through the week *and* we still have free shipping? Sounds like the perfect time to treat yourself to a new book and support indie bookstores in the process. 📚

I love this picture of me and my co-worker’s dog because you can tell we are friends. Her name is shelby and she loves showing off her chew toy. puppy dog eyes are from when I stopped belly rubs for one second to take a picture, resumed immediately after.
a pit bull with a short cinnamon colored coat holding a chew toy in her mouth gazes fondly at a bearded man in safety glasses wearing an n-95 mask the same cinnamon colored pit bull, her brown eyes gazing dolefully at the camera as she begs for belly rubs to resume with a blue chew toy held in her mouth

In Zephyr, you play as the Windfolk; sentimental constructs travelling the back of a sentient, walking landmass to fulfill sacred Obligations for their community.

To close a Wells Fargo A/C, you must have a zero balance and no pending transactions. You can call customer service at 1-800-869-3557, visit a branch with valid ID, or by mail a completed Account Closure Request form if you are outside the U.S. Wells Fargo does not allow account closures online.

Not only is this ridiculous - one of my asthma triggers is pollution; reduce that and my inhaler use drops significantly - but it's also eugenics. Fascists love deciding that sick and disabled people are the real problem. Don't fall for this shit.

"There’s a different, much more positive way to look at [something like a stain or a tear in a museum collection item], and that is the idea that these clothes have lived a life and that they were, in fact, important to someone and had this kind of moment in the sun.” Same for quilts!
Instead of hiding rips and tears, the visible mending movement turns them into art
Born from the Japanese art of sashiko, visible mending enables crafters to eschew fast fashion and make mistakes beautiful.
