I am a supporter of Americans knowing how to safely handle firearms, but I must also reconcile this with the fact that this was not the purpose of the 2nd Amendment originally; that was to ensure that white civilians had the means and ability to put down rebellions by enslaved ppl & indigenous ppl

Would suggest the book “Dying of Whiteness” for more on this salient point. Too many who benefit from social safety net programs - healthcare, housing, higher education - become their fiercest opponents when people of color and LGBTQ+ people are able to access them as well.

Train Dreams is a beautiful work of art in and of its own right; but there is something that I find really special and magical seeing people posting in spanish, dutch, german, and all sorts of different languages about a movie that focuses on a mostly-overlooked region, but one filled with beauty.
