And we all know what Reform say in private because occasionally it comes out in public. Not hard to find examples.

‘Oh & that time LAST YEAR when I hung out with those racists & fascists. But that was them, not me! How was I to know they were racists? I couldn’t tell, but maybe that’s my White privilege? I can’t help having White privilege. I am White, after all, & privileged.’

Haven’t done any racism since I was a teenager! Well, apart from that time in 2014 when I took out a full page advert in the Telegraph to deny that I’d been racist on the radio about Romanians. Everyone does that though, don’t they?

It was 49 years ago! 49 years! I haven’t done any DIRECT TARGETED PROPERLY FUN racism for YEARS! DECADES! CENTURIES! Oh, apart from that disgusting Brexit poster…

2014 - Farage then said he may have made comments that he did not know were racist at the time. "You can define namecalling in all sorts of different ways", he said. Asked if he had used a racist term to confront a fellow boy, he said "I don't know, I don't remember. It's not relevant, is it?"

Yes, I agree, Kate. Very clear and courageous. The ring of truth about it.

Was an excellent interview! Highly recommend ppl listen. Recalled that #Farage was ‘very strange’, a ‘loner type’, ‘bit of a pariah because of his extreme racist views’, ‘celebrated his initials being NF’, ‘a nasty piece of work’ and a ‘complete liar’ who used to goose step around the playground 😖

From September 2013:

‘Channel 4 News obtains a letter about Ukip leader Nigel Farage, from his days as a schoolboy, in which teachers are quoted as accusing him of being “racist” and “fascist”.’

Sure, go for it, I am always interested in where people get their news and info.

Disgusting attempt by Reform’s Tim Montgomery to cast aspersions on Dr Andy Field, the ex Dulwich student who spoke with R4 World At One today about witnessing Nigel Farage’s vile teenage racism. How low Montgomery has fallen, now a craven maker of excuses for racism of the most hateful sort.

You didn’t answer my question, or are you suggesting just not consuming any radio news whatsoever? My own view is that we have to triangulate among the offerings that actually exist.
November 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM
Which other garbage would you suggest replacing it with?
November 25, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Yeah, they won’t happen.

There's a large bang of "We are right-on white saviours for you people, how dare you criticise us, know your place" about the whole shameful affair.

Not sure you need a 6 or 7 part podcast to ascertain that.

The endless handwringing about it is tedious.

It shows that the criticial Goodreads review had gone largely unnoticed, that many couldn't stomach the book privately, but didn't feel able to speak up (how right they were), until Clanchy poured petrol on the review, set it alight for everyone to see, and then blamed everyone else for the fire.
