So the arrangement could be as follows:

vs RHP:
RF Yaz (126)
DH Acuña (171)
C Baldwin (124)

vs LHP:
RF Acuña (138)
DH Baldwin (129)
C Murphy (123)

And you end up with a platoon that works against lefties and righties, that lets Acuña rests his legs for most of the time, and gives ABs to both Cs.

Obviously it depends on how he fares, but I think he’s good enough to at least stick around somewhere. Could be the Jays, could be a weaker team.

Overall, Spencer Miles is a nice underrated reliever, and a nice add for the Jays in the Rule 5 draft, with a good arsenal that's capable of getting both lefties and righties out. I'm not sure if he makes the Jays' roster, but I hope he does as I believe he can be very effective if he makes it.

Miles doesn't have a slider, but I think he should add one, and it may not be hard for him to pick one up and command it well. I'd guess that pitch would have about -7" HB based on the movement of his cutter & curve.

The cutter is his final pitch, and it's not a standout offering but still helps to keep hitters honest. He locates it well, routinely throwing it up and in against lefties.

The curve isn't as good as the sinker, but it was still an effective offering, and also has the potential for more. Miles averaged over 2800 rpm on the curve, and curveballs from that arm slot with that spin move a little more than his, so he could unlock more movement via better spin efficiency.

The sinker gets a surprising amount of separation from the fastball, to the point where Statcast mislabeled it as a changeup. It should be used as a changeup though, as with its amount of drop and arm-side movement it can be an effective put away pitch against lefties.

The 4-seamer was his best pitch at the AFL, inducing a 45% whiff rate as he was able to locate the pitch at the top of the zone consistently. Its shape isn't the best from his high three-quarters delivery, but it's made up for by the velocity that he ran up to 98.4 at the AFL.

Here's some approximations of his pitch metrics from the AFL, based on his pitch plot from @prospectsavant.com (though Statcast had trouble classifying his pitches):

4SFB: 95 mph, 15" iVB, 9" HB
SINKER: 95 mph, 6" iVB, 16" HB
CURVE: 80 mph, -10" iVB, -12" HB
CUTTER: 90 mph, 7" iVB, -1" HB

Miles has shown good stuff and great control in the small sample though, both in the minors and when he pitched at the Arizona Fall League in 2025. At the AFL, he pitched 8.2 innings and struck out 12 while walking just one. It's not much to go off of, but when he pitched he pitched well.

The DBacks are willing to take a shot on Soroka; it’s a low-risk signing with a somewhat high reward if he pans out, and the DBacks need all the help they can get pitching-wise. He’s someone that can move into the bullpen otherwise, where he was very effective in 2024 (2.75 ERA, 3.10 bFIP in 36 IP).

He only pitched 8.1 innings with CHC due to a shoulder strain, and I’ve noticed is that leading up to the injury his velo tanked. You can look at this both ways: the injury was bothering him for a while and made him less effective, or he can’t handle a starter’s workload due to injury proneness.

The Nationals also get Isaac Lyon, the Mariners’ 10th round pick from 2025. He’s a righty that throws sidearm and posted good numbers in his junior year at GCU (4.19 ERA, 3.15 FIP in 86 IP across 15 starts), with a 91 mph sinker, 89 mph cutter, 84 mph sweeper, and an 81 mph changeup.

Harry Ford is a good return for WSN: borderline top-100 prospect (92nd at Prospects Live) who spent 2025 at AAA since he was blocked by Raleigh & Garver, and slashed .283/.408/.460 (125 wRC+). Not so great defensively per my metrics, but he’ll get some time behind the dish in MLB to refine it.

Big fan of Ferrer; great command (especially for an RP) and great stuff headlined by a 98 mph sinker, had 99th percentile GB% as a result. Not a big K guy as he used that sinker 71% of the time; may use his CH & SL more w/ SEA. Should slot in as the 7th/8th inning guy with Brash.

Maybe you could balance it out by juicing the balls a bit again? That way you still get some homers, but with the deeper walls it won’t be like 2017/2019 where it feels like any hitter can get 30 HR in a year.

Could also play with wall heights instead of wall depth.

My take is that ballparks should be bigger. Add ~25 feet to every direction in the outfield. Disincentivizes TTO play by making it harder to hit homers, while also adding more ground that outfielders have to cover, allowing for more balls in play and higher BABIPs.
