Robert Jenrick's plan to sack judges with whom he disagrees politically should terrify everyone.
The judiciary being independent & a bulwark against unlawful govt conduct is vital if we value the rule of law.
That shouldn't need explaining to senior politicians.

Robert Jenrick lists 30 'activist judges' he vows to axe
In a bold move, Robert Jenrick is set to unveil a controversial plan targeting what he calls 'activist' judges, at the Conservative Party conference.

This govt can't claim it's committed to international law whilst also saying it wants to 'restrict' protections available to torture survivors & those at risk of torture if deported.
It's 1 or the other, either you oppose torture & respect international law, or you don't.

🚨 This is a message from over 100 charities. Scapegoating refugees won’t fix inequality, housing shortages, or a crumbling NHS. Real solutions will. It's time for real change for all communities, no matter their immigration status.

"By refusing to ever criticise the anti-migrant politics of Reform and the Conservatives, while repeatedly flirting with such politics themselves, Starmer and his party are essentially conceding the argument to their opponents."

“My husband, who is Turkish, has applied for ILR and will hopefully be eligible for it next year...Would a Reform government insist that my husband has to take my children when he is deported or would they be allowed to stay?” Josephine, Head of Advocacy

What are Nigel Farage’s immigration plans – and do his sums add up?
Reform UK leader’s hardline plans were lauded by rightwing press. But are they coherent and will they save money?

This is a scary announcement by Reform, 1 step away from so-called remigration.
The government must call this out for what it is: racism.
Anything less, such as talking about how it won't work in practical terms, is a moral failure & effectively validates these views.

Reform vows to scrap indefinite leave to remain for migrants
The party says scrapping the scheme and restricting migrant access to benefits will save hundreds of billions of pounds.

The first PERSON was deported, BBC.
Whilst politicians dehumanise migrants & refugees, the media enables this by failing to recognise & acknowledge that amidst the rhetoric & numbers, we're talking about people.
People who, like everyone, want safety & a better life.

Powerful words from our client who's been waiting a year+ for the govt to process his simple visa renewal application.
They responded to a formal complaint with bland jargon & didn't even try & justify the delay.
The govt's plan to put more people on the 10 year route will make things much worse

🤔🤔🤔
Our client's further leave to remain application was processed within 4 hours today.
What possible justification can the government give for taking years to process these applications when it can easily be done, if you pay, within a couple of hours?

Devastating news that 3 people, inc 2 children, have lost their lives in the Channel
This is the tragic consequence of militarising borders & offering no safe routes for refugees to get here & reunite with loved ones
The gov must change course now, create safe routes & stop dehumanising migrants

Leave to remain applications cost nearly £4000
Our client applied for a fee waiver as she can't afford this
The govt is assessing if she can afford £4000 & has asked her to explain an £8 transaction
A perfect eg of how time consuming & inefficient the 10 year route is for everyone, govt included

Asylum hotels are awful & should be closed.
Shoving people in disused barracks is worse. It's immoral, a health risk & will do nothing to stop people fleeing persecution from seeking safety in the UK.
We bet it also wont help this govt win over Reform voters.

A herculean team effort saw us submit 15 apps in 3 days.
The families now wait anxiously for decisions.
