The govt should cap settlement routes at 5 years.
This recognises that people put down roots & will give them the stability to flourish.
It will relieve pressure on the Home Office, which is already overworked.
It is win win!

3/ The govt's plans to increase settlement routes to 20 or even 30 years will make things worse. It will see people trapped in endless visa renewal cycles, with many falling in & out of status due to human errors.

They punish people who've lived here for decades, parents of British kids & those with medical conditions. Not because these people commit crimes, but because they make innocent mistakes completing complicated online forms or miss application deadlines.
