Today at coffee I said to my friend I would be glad to see this current administration go away, after learning that Hegseth and Leavitt attend a church around the corner from where we sat. People protest it. The man at the next table moved to another table to get away from me. Snowflake!

This flower amused me this morning. Not much else in DC amuses me these days.

Today I got my covid booster and signed up to get solar panels. I guess it’s clear what side I’m on. These both show faith that our world will continue more or less as we know it, but that part feels pretty shaky.

Who’s going to start reporting on all the federal firings happening today? I want to hear the big picture, not just what my friends who have been fired know.

So proud to be listening to Harry Dunn right now!

Since we’re all talking about Greenland and Canada now would be a good time to remind people that Puerto Rico and Washington, DC actually should be added as the 51st and 52nd states.

Bluesky is great for keeping me up-to-speed on what’s really happening. My problem is that what’s really happening keeps making me shudder involuntarily.

For the past few days, I’ve been going through a health situation that has required a lot of expensive testing just to ensure I’m not on the verge of dying. I’m lucky that I’m in a position where I don’t have to decide whether I can afford the tests. The US needs better health care.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each year, the trans community loses too many lives, especially trans women of color, to hate and violence.

More than ever, we must stand by our trans family and support them, hold space for them, and insist the scapegoating and targeting stop.

Now.

Time to introduce myself, I guess. I’m a retired govie who now spends my time as a singer/songwriter and volunteering for social justice causes. So, you know, just the worst type of people. Loving people’s photos, interesting perspectives, and the care shown to others. We need each other.
