My brother's started posting on YouTube the project he's been working on for years: a scifi epic, written, narrated, recorded and arranged by him.
While the text is in French, there are English subtitles and you can follow the story easily. Here's the Prologue: youtube.com/watch…

"One no longer needs to demonstrate Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki's environmentalist sentiments. Environmentalism, feminism and anti-war pacifism are the three main themes that can be highlighted from movie to movie."

The way the weather went from so cold last week that we were considering restarting the wood stove to so hot this week the heat made me nauseous is bullshit. Like, can we get a progression here, from cold to warm to hot, instead of radical jump from cold to hot? Smh.

Very important and timely thread, a must read, truly.
As a German I will forever be grateful to all who fought for the liberation of Europe.

But as a historian I am looking at front pages today and must wonder: What is the point of remembering #VEDay 80 years on, what is the point of our thanks, when we are failing to protect the sacrifices made? 🧵

“This is my favourite book in all the world, though I have never read it”. With these words, William Goldman provides us with the crux of the novel in our hands.

Look, I know I was reading Ancient Greek literature for fun when I was in my early teens and that’s not exactly normal, but I will admit I am still a bit horrified that lots of adult Christopher Nolan fans seem to have never *heard* of Homer or the Odyssey.
