It's funny thinking back to the argument that Dems couldn't get rid of the filibuster when they were in power because they'd miss it once the GOP was in power.

I don’t think this is a profound observation on my part but it is certainly remarkable how much of the ongoing situation seems to be centered around trying to find a way to shoehorn AI into the government and make it an indispensable utility before the bubble bursts
UPDATE: Responses to the Elon Musk-directed email to government employees about what work they accomplished over the past week are expected to be fed into an artificial intelligence system to determine whether those jobs are necessary or not, sources say.
DOGE will use AI to assess the responses from federal workers who were told to justify their jobs via email
The revelation comes as federal workers face a midnight deadline to respond to an email from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Grim predictions of unprecedented state violence when people already been living through precedented state violence that's gone largely unreported because that violence has been targeted at Black and brown people and those fully committed to collective liberation.

In the period between now and Inauguration Day, on January 20th, the Biden Administration could still give immigrants additional layers of protection before Trump takes office. So far, he appears unwilling to do so. nyer.cm/Ic2teal

Jay: I think social media should be basically common infrastructure that society gets to use and evolve it as society evolves, building a more democratic form of social media to reflect a democratic society.

Not to go too far down a discourse hole but younger people / kids popularizing “put the fries in the bag” and/or “I have a job” as insults in comment sections / replies (especially on tiktok) is pretty worrisome. Like a small indicator of where we are socially (classist, atomized, always working)
