A choice between socialism or 'Freedom'? Well, I don't know... closer ties with our neighbours, who we have so much in common with and are just across a little stretch of water, or kissing the arse of Orange Hitler who's thousands of miles away (climate crisis anyone?). Ooh, that's a difficult one.
Starmer warned not to take Trump bullying ‘on the chin’ as adviser issues threat
A top trade adviser for Donald Trump has demanded that the UK ditches the ‘socialist’ EU in favour of US ‘freedom’ and a trade deal or suffer the consequences with tariffs

They are pretending COVID doesn’t exist so they don’t have to provide basic worker rights like sick days, remote work, or worker protections. COVID is a labor justice issue.

Ever wondered what the inside of an earthball looks like? They can explode a bit when they release their spores, exposing their insides for all to see. I was rather pleased to get the photo of the one showing off its stem.

By the way, they look like harmless baked potatoes, but they are poisonous.

'A Seventh Child' by John Strange Winter (aka Henrietta Eliza Vaughan Stannard), originally published in 1894, is now available in a new edition, and it includes a long biographical essay by me.

Please say 'eeep!' to Koi... from the fabulous Vintage Mouse Makes!

Koi loves the great outdoors... especially swimming nekked in wild pools, where she has her best thinks. 🐭❤️

Recent book post!... 'Unquiet Grove', a collection of twelve strange tales on the theme of tree-lore, woods and forests, just published by the excellent Egaeus Press. It's a thing of beauty... But then, all Egaeus Press books are a joy to behold.

Horn of plenty (Craterellus cornucopioides). I prefer the French name, trompette des morts (trumpet of the dead). We came across them for the first time last week on the coast path, and I think they're beautiful.

Beautiful Heddon's Mouth. Trying out my new 'phone camera after smashing my previous one on the coast path. I got over excited whilst photographing butterflies... Biff bang, and my phone was on the ground.

The garden is allowing us to keep a thin sliver of path this year, so we can still get from the house to the street.

Sometimes, I buy a book based on reviews. Sometimes, I buy one based purely on the cover design (I do like perty things). Other times, well, the title is enough!

'Gloomy Fanny' by Morley Roberts, published by Eveleigh Nash, 1913.

PS - The title of this book in no way reflects my current condition.
