I think the thing you are failing to grasp is nuance. Qui Gon is flawed, yes, but so are Obi Wan and Yoda and Luke. This does not mean that Qui Gon and Luke do not possess a quality they lack.

In Dune, Paul uses the Guild’s ability to see the future to control them. They cannot take risks, for fear of potential harm. Paul threatens to destroy the Spice and they take the threat seriously bc they know there is a possibility he will follow through. This is essentially what the Jedi are doing
