Durbin's DC phone number is 202-224-2152, business hours are M-F 9am-6pm EST.

The email form on his senate dot gov website is a great space to let him know, too. Spamming a senator's inbox is a great weekend activity !

We still have him for 1 more years Illinoisans, don't let him do skeezy shit.

Hey folks in Illinois! Apparently @durbin.senate.gov is very much trying to get Section 230 repealed so you should call him and tell him that is a very bad idea. Thanks!

in 1998 a slashdot user said “‘think of the children’ is the root password to the constitution” about COPPA and it has remained forever true
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.

there's NEVER any shame in wanting human connection.

and no, it's not just you. we live in a society that tells us connection is a matter of deserving. that our conformity with arbitrary ideals is what determines our worthiness for connection.

I know I'm not alone in saying,
FUCK that.

there are many reasons to reform s230 but none of these are it.

which means by definition anything they try to do to repeal s230 will miss the mark and backfire catastrophically if they aren't even thinking about the right problems.
The letter, signed by most of the S230 repeal bill sponsors, claims the following:

- S230 causes the grooming of US children and deepfake porn
- S230 means “drug traffickers are selling fentanyl-laced pills to teenagers”
- S230 caused body dysmorphia in youth
- S230 allows for terrorist recruitment

This is the rub right here, any of the flaws or concerns around the modern US internet are not addressed by an S230 repeal. Just hurts you while Big Tech can weather the blow and change for a post-S230 environment

Another bill aimed at repealing section 230 has been introduced, this time in the senate

Please continue to advocate for protecting Sec 230 to your reps. We dont know how much support these bills will get yet, but they are obviously trying to push this issue

How can you argue federal AV laws are good when at the state level we're seeing real pushback and even seeing AV legislation repealed/blocked?

They want you to think its a consensus, its inevitable.

Its not. Fight like its not!

I really want to emphasize that this is a winnable fight, but everyone has to chip in in order to do so! Please dont sit it out expecting others to stand in your place!

And dont ignore local/state level stuff! As these state laws get overturned, the narrative behind the Fed ones lose steam!

Things like this always depend on people sitting down and complying before even questioning it. if you can call your Reps to say you dont support the incredibly invasive Age Verification KOSA crap, DO IT. even if you think its hopeless, better to try and possibly win than not and definitely lose
