Albuquerque area folks, come to an open mic for read alouds tomorrow, Feb 4 at 11 a.m.

I'll be your guest host and I'm bringing favs from my children's librarian career. You can bring your own favorite read aloud to share too!

Optional opportunity to show support for the freedom to read.

This good boy whom I had to escort back out of the library often before adopting him would like to sleep on my pillow with his nose tucked under my neck if I'd just stay still for that.

Okay, buddy, early morning walk is done. You've gotta move so I can lie back down on my pillow.

Let's get rid of the fascism so we can turn our focus to other evils.

I posted this in our staff area a year ago.

Yes, that is mr. leash terrified dog leashed & wagging as hard as he can while getting chicken treats in alternating turns to my assistant (also a dog).

I had been training them for this over an indoor fence and was right that they were ready to wander around tonight.

I initiated a public library / city animal shelter partnership where I display adoptable pets in our space. Shelter provided template and blesses this.

Weekly featured critters + whichever one that has been at the shelter the longest.

Been admiring your dog pics and just realized my new dog makes my set kind of like them color scheme-wise!

"If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain."

This moment from PLURIBUS captures my feelings about a lot of people these days.

The human bed has been existing dog's "you may not enter, new dog *snarl* *bark* zone," but she's starting to ease off on that. Sometimes.

I have raised the gate with steel pipes and netting. Still need to get the walls raised to feel secure, but new dog is less likely to jump the fence straight at something he can see.

New dog is doing well. He's very cuddly and gentle even when my other dog isn't gentle with him. He does scream if anyone tries to collar him so I'll be working with him on that. He's also much more into destroying things. Other dog is having mixed feelings about him.

I went in this morning with intention to adopt, but he's in FAR worse shape than I realized. Shivering, shut down, and already deemed "unadoptable."

Senior staff is meeting today about cases and they may sedate him for examination. They know I'm interested and willing to do a lot, but looks bad.

All of the other dogs heard a sound from inside and ran in, but he stayed outside watching me leave after I talked to him for a bit. Oh buddy!

We'll have to see if he gets along with my dog (both Australian cattledogs) and us humans, but if so it'll be a cool origin story that he kept visiting a library and got adopted by a librarian there. 📚

Here's me petting him at the front entrance in October.
