He would renege on both. We’ve seen him refuse to spend money appropriated by Congress and we can’t count on SCOTUS to enforce the constitution.

I think they just have to keep the government shut down no matter what.

Nothing they get in a budget deal (even if signed into law and not just a handshake deal) is going to stop an already illegal occupation.

Got it. But nobody has been held in contempt yet for any of this, right? I want to say a judge tried in one of the CECOT removal cases but it got blocked by a higher court.

If it’s the contempt thing, then fair enough.

But it does seem wild to order them to do what they were already legally obligated to do.

They already didn’t do that, there should be a penalty. But alas, I guess that isn’t how the law works.

Ellis says the order will direct "agents and officers to follow the training they've already received... and is essentially directing them to follow their own rules, policies, regulations... and the behavior that the constitution demands."
