Basically this was the entire logic fo neoliberalism and globalization - yes lots of job destruction, but prices falling on all kinds of goods and new jobs in new areas. It was taken as gospel that all of it was a net benefit, but that's a bit harder argument to make these days.

Fair is fair, saying "Lee Greenwood OR role models" is accurate.

Greenwood did not serve in the United States military, despite there being a universal draft at the time. He has said that he was given a 3A deferment for family hardship due to becoming a father at 17.[12] He eloped to Reno, Nevada with his first wife, Edna, in 1960.[13]

that said I do think infantrydork should be punched in his xiphoid process as many times as it takes for him to stop poasting

N.B. The point of nonviolent protest isn't to prevent the bad guys from being bad in a "don't do anything to provoke your abuser" way. I am not a scholar of the topic but that seems like an absolutely *demented* misreading of what e.g. the Civil Rights Movement was going for.
