okay we’re now up to 28,194 votes (or 17.48%)… which still kinda sucks tbh. just know that if you don’t vote then I will hold you personally responsible for every terrible dipshit who gets elected
jarrodbaker.bsky.social
only 10 votes received yesterday (which I assume is a weird quirk related to the weekend) which isn’t even enough to change the percentage.

remember that the worst person you know is definitely voting and if you don’t vote then you’re basically letting them choose for you
A snip from the electionz.com website showing that just 19,979 votes out of a possible 161,318 have been taken in the Wellington City Council election. That’s just 12.38%

📣 VFF and Local Election

Wellington VFF's Regional CO is Dean Harris. Dean lives in the WCC area but is running for Mayor in Kapiti. Why? His answer in Upskilling for Local Democracy (U4LG) was "politics." Better Wellington was already in full swing, starting their campaign in 2024.

If you’re in Wellington / Poneke there is a protest against the genocide in Gaza and our government’s shameful
complicity at 1 pm in Cuba Street, by the bucket fountain.

I want to emphasise the importance of anyone with a progressive or even a fair-minded bone in their body in the Wharangi Onslow-Western ward giving me their first preference. Please hit up friends in Karori, Ngaio, Wilton, Northland, Wadestown, Khandallah etc to check they voted

Better Wellington/independent Together not even managing to switch to the right Facebook account to claim they’re not the same organisation is some kind of performance art, right?

Someone just hearted this skeet from March and it is ridiculously timely at this point in the local govt election campaign - let your local lady and nonbinary candidates know you love them cos its pretty brutal atm. Shoutout to @rebeccamatthews.bsky.social one of my all time faves 🫶

PH picks up on ST's point about how women are constantly adapting to these environments which exhausts us. "Enough now, the system is fundamentally broken... politics is broken beyond fixability". Need to shift to conversations, listening, respect, eg participatory & deliberative democracy.

It is time the most urban place in our whole country is represented by someone who understands what cities are and how great they can be. Someone facing forward into this century and seeing the possibility, not just trying (and largely failing) to hold it back!

Mayoralty schmayoralty: these are the races that will decide the future of Auckland
Will Wayne Brown spend the next three years being pressured to build cycleways or getting yelled at about villas and bus lanes? It could come down to a few votes.<br />

It's not a coincidence that our bus patronage numbers are hitting all time highs. This term we've delivered more bus lanes than the seven previous councils combined

Thank you for all your support today. Also great support and conversations doorknocking in Wilton this afternoon, with this fantastic crew. Talking with people and listening to each other will help us protect us from division and hate ❤️

The times we are living in eh? Determined to do what I can to make things, including the divisiveness of politics, better not worse. Actually better, not “Better Wellington”.
