I embrace the je ne sais wtf. Artist, poet, knitter. Queer, Deaf, Disabled, Jewish. A family with 6 cats. Progressive Democrat. With fear for our democracy, I dissent. They/them.

Wow.

I’m a progressive Democrat, in the vein of AOC and Mamdani.

These are all genuine questions that require real thought. A different path going forward.

Otherwise what’s the point?

Now I understand the Ken Martin-David Hogg DNC brouhaha.

Grassroots Democrats need to take the wheel. Now.

NEW: Carol Loennig tells Nicoll Wallace on MSNOW that the DOJ intends to try and indict Letitia James a THIRD time.

The trouble with that is these multiple tries help James prove her vindictive and selective prosecution bid, and bolster a case to get the grand jury materials.

Federalism is good for USA democracy in the age of Trump. Agree.

I have doubts about this argument for the electoral college.

DC and Puerto Rico need to be states, and the House needs to be expanded. Agree.

But robbing Gore and HRC of their popular vote victories has never sat right with me.
People who advocate for electing the president by popular really are saying that federalism shouldn't matter - largely because they like the way that big cities would control elections. (For now.) This is dumb, especially now, when federalism has been a godsend.
A thread.

I’m genuinely curious what your ideas for an electoral college fix would be within this context.
I do, but I'm not going to waste my time on that treadmill.

Who is advocating for the removal of federalism by asking for the president to be elected by popular vote?

You can have 50 states administer and tally votes for 50 elections and sum up the votes for each candidate to determine the winner. Or just do the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Kimmel must be reinstated. If Disney/ABC agree to this extortion then perhaps creatives + workers should consider collective action to push back. Same w/buying park + cruise tickets if they bow.
