my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.
This is so disgusting.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Israel's again bombed a hospital in Gaza.

I'm sick of the empty statements from so many governments including our own.

They must hit Israel with the toughest sanctions possible to end the Genocide

▪️Sanction Israel’s economy
▪️Sanction Israel’s leaders
▪️End all arms sales now

Bring flowers if you can, especially if you've got some from a garden!

There are two other Peterloo events on 16 August:

Tin eared response from Labour spokespeople to election results so far. Labour supporters feel Labour, their party, has turned its back on them citing Winter Fuel Allowance, NI tax on jobs & threat of disability cuts. Message to ministers is drop the plans to attack disabled.

THE CANARY: Privatised water costs us dearly: Study reveals a staggering 35% 'privatisation tax' on bills. Time for a collective push towards reclaiming our essential resource for the public good?

- by James Wright
How much higher are our water bills because of privatisation? A lot.
Even when accounting for nationalisation costs, we would save £5 billion per year on our water bills by bringing water into public ownership

The money is there, they just need to look in the right place.

It’s about making the right choices: pitting the poor against the poor isn’t that!

£460 Million per WEEK - that's what we could raise with a 2% tax on any wealth above £10 million.

Imagine the huge difference that could make to our communities and public services.

Today I joined PatMillsUK bus touring the country to make the case for a Wealth Tax, not cuts.
