Intro to me. I’m Janie. I used to do Swift development, but I have been taking some time to learn C++ so I can build game engines and do low level rendering. I don’t have any current tech projects to talk about so I mostly talk about my pugs and my crafting projects to avoid going insane.
Does anyone have experience volunteering for political campaigns? I am on the autism spectrum and I have difficulty talking to people on the phone or in person in an unsolicited manner. Are there other ways to contribute to a campaign besides calling or knocking on doors?

I can no longer attribute to incompetence what is more plausibly explained by malice. This isn't an opposition party, this is a kayfabe party.

The worst part about waiting to see if the Senate is going to cave is knowing I can never threaten the careers of these politicians more than the spectre of death that haunts this gerontocracy.

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

I hope that if people who read my posts get one thing from me, it's that the world is full of amazing, funny, terrible, wondrous things that you don't know and one of the greatest joys of life is being granted the precious, precious time to learn and experience some of them.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

the thing about this is that a) small states do not have any interests that are inherent to their size (no less than james madison understood this) b) the senate is organized along party lines which makes the small/big distinction almost irrelevant and c) the filibuster has never been used this way
Underrated aspect of killing the filibuster is making pundit hacks at Cook Political p-p-p-piss their pants

I noticed the cookies I gave Tilda were green and fuzzy. I have been afraid that she will get really sick but she eats her own poop. 🤷🏼♀️

I have this super complicated quilt pattern where some blocks have gray on two different ends and some have one but they are divided with half on one side and half on the other. I am trying to keep it straight by doing the forward slash ends first and the backslash ends next. 😅
