For those who don't know me: I exist in a liminal space of wanting to engage and talk to people about interesting things but abhor being observed. It makes my skin crawl. As a result, I guard how people interact with and about me fairly tightly.

If you're not sure and you want to be careful, ask.
A friend of mine who is not fluent in English told me he spent the last night "sexing some hot babes." I had to avoid laughing in this poor man's face as I imagined him flipping them over to make an informed guess.

If there's one thing I'd plead with fantasy authors to imagine it's a world where the bigotry we know doesn't exist. Where whatever hatred that forms in the hearts of thinking beings is as alien to us as their wonders and mysteries. Do not make readers travel to new worlds only to carry old baggage.

There's a series I'm reading at the moment that has an isekai'ed trans woman as the protag and while I'm all for folks using fiction to explore complex experiences in their identities, let me tell you how strangely nice it is that if I wasn't told that in the first few chapters, I'd never know.

I like when non-native speakers write fantasy novels because the broader vocabulary sometimes creates funny mistakes. Example: Good miss, I think you meant "she willingly surrendered herself to his magic, trusting his control." If she had done it "willfully" this scene becomes a lot weirder. 🤣

For folks who don't cook like this but want to, I suggest that you think of things you cook and google "what can I do with leftover ..." Somebody has probably thought of good food you can make with any leftovers from a dish. Bones? Broths? Skins? Whatever. Aspire let *nothing* get thrown away.
I've split my crockpot rosemary chicken, potatoes and carrots into three containers: leftovers, a portion of the liquids to turn into a gravy, and a portion of the liquid to use as a broth for making rice in the rice cooker. The joy of strategic cooking is in how the end of one meal preps the next.

NextDoor is a trip. I legit see a post like "my landlord moved me into an illegal apartment and is now stealing my mail so I can't move but I don't want to file a police report because that would be so dramatic, anyone been thru this?"

Gurl wut. Walk me through your mindset. You listed 3 crimes.

Whenever fantasy writers write about farming, it becomes super obvious super fast how few of them understand anything about it. "And so the heroine decided to double her magical extra-strength fertilizers!"

Did you know that over-fertilizing will not only burn out your crops but poison the soil?

First, woof, that is a doozy of a recording and it definitely fills me with a rage to never buy Campbell's again...

Second, while I can't speak to the quality of their meat... this guy is a fool. They are *not* 3D printing their meat. I know this because they'd be the market leaders of it.

There's something magical about throwing raw ingredients and seasonings into a crockpot and then, hours later as you've gone on to other things in your day, coming back to a fully cooked and flavorful meal.

I love my fellow autistic folks because tell me why I open the comments for a clip of a fantasy movie where the protagonist scatters her pearl necklace and one of the top comments is someone like "I know this is a movie, but (proceeds to explain why real pearl necklaces are individually knotted)."🤣

In this time when librarians are juggling so much to keep serving their communities, I definitely think it's worth thinking about how game devs could be collaborating to help them continue to provide and expand their provisions to their communities.

Lemme add an interesting one that is easy to make but absolutely feels like a special occasion drink: Rosewater Soda. As easy to make as mixing rosewater into a simple syrup and then stirring it into some seltzer. Absolutely hits some of the same notes as a champagne while being a unique flavor.
I do not drink because I have almost no tolerance for it anymore (one margarita is too much).

If you are hosting a party, I recommend also stocking:
-fancy ginger beer
-coconut water
-premium juices like lychee and guava
-apple cider with cinnamon
-Italian sodas
-sparkling water

Lots of options!

I am of the belief that every economic model, like every political model, is fatally flawed. They may offer you necessities today, but it behooves you to figure out what that fatal flaw is and when to curb or replace that system so as to avoid the fatality. Failing to do so will ruin all we built.

*laughs as a minority bought and sold, repressed, and denied futures via capitalist coordination to ensure a "better outcome for all"*

When you're at your lowest point, remember you can never be more wrong than a White man on the internet who thinks the world helps everyone like it helps him.
“Capitalism forces you to wake up at 7am against your body’s natural rhythms” no that’s Taylorism and if you don’t like living in a society that coordinates effort to ensure a better outcome for all then I don’t think you’ll love the alternatives

Me seeing a new martial art mentioned: Oh, let's look that up! I'm always curious...

Me, watching them repeatedly perform heel kicks above the waist as some YouTuber talks about how they "don't do competitions" and "focus on practical, effective moves": Oh, so we're just making up shit now? Okay.

Autistic moment of the day: Hearing someone talking about Mad Max: Fury Road repeatedly say "Immortal Joe" and having to suppress the urge to screech "It's ImmortaN Joe!!!"

They are a good person and this is not a productive response, I repeat to myself softly over and over under my breath.

College is one of the first times many kids start to realize that the actions of their peers are no longer idle differences of youth. That they can truly ruin and kill each other through those actions. It's the first time they see in each other the shadows of the adults they will grow into.

Others are going to discuss how not just unshocked but *antishocked* they are about this. Yes, that's true... but can we take a moment to discuss how whoever dresses her doesn't seem to like her either? Those darts? Ma'am? Someone really did you no favors. 🤣
