Writing a letter from prison to another prisoner seems like an odd thing to do
If he had been in there for years, maybe
Up until he died, I kind of expected him to get out on bail or something. It didn't seem like it was a long term pre-trial situation for him until the day they announced his death

Apparently, this story is from a few months ago, a good prediction.
My thing is there are always people who will set up others to fail while they still come out on top

That was a chunk of time they devoted to *trying* to be good enough
