“No Kings” is great , but we really don't get a functioning democracy back until we internalize, bone deep, the instinctive response to this and every other statement like it: “I don’t care what that rich guy thinks.”

Make it your morning affirmation. Say it ten times at the top of every hour.

Do you know the exact year that CEO pay took off?

And why then? It wasn’t exactly on purpose, and on our latest ep, an update on a 2016 episode, we find the cause (Hint: Two words - stock compensation).
When CEO pay exploded (update) : Planet Money
(Note: A version of this episode originally ran in 2016.)It’s no secret that CEOs get paid a ton – and a ton more than the average worker. More than a hundred times than what their average employee…

Among the many things that bum me out about anti-vaccine nonsense is that every rich person knows vaccines work. Bezos could dedicate a great metropolitan newspaper to saying so. The LA Times is owned by a biotech billionaire. But saying so could affect their personal bottom line now, so.

Hello just wanted to say:

Public media is a useful public good. It is a source of great local news at a time when local news is being decimated. Also, in my 10 years in public media, I can say people who work here do it because they believe in the mission of informing people.

Just noting.

Don't. Print. Lies. In. The. Newspapers 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡

It's not a "trade agreement", bc POTUS can't make "trade agreements" on his own, & every media outlet should stop being lazy by using "deal" or "agreement" & instead do journalism & explain to readers that all of this is wildly illegal & not how it works.
President Trump said Tuesday that he had struck a trade agreement with Indonesia, calling it a "great deal for everybody" on social media. Under the deal, U.S. exports to Indonesia would face no tariffs, while Indonesian goods would be charged a tariff of 19% when shipped to the U.S.
Trump Announces ‘Great Deal’ on Trade With Indonesia
Details are still scarce on the agreement, which the president said will partly walk back some of the steep tariffs he threatened on the country last week.

According to this Supreme Court, President Biden's Department of Education was exceeding its power by trying to forgive peoples' student loans.

President Trump, on the other hand, has the power to just completely dismantle the entire Education Department.

Republicans are actively trying to defund public broadcasting. In most rural areas of the country public broadcasting doubles as the emergency alert system. Defunding public broadcasting alert systems after what happened in Texas is unthinkably dangerous.
