Definitely a BIG departure from her being initially scared of me because I apparently physically resemble her abuser. Now this kid is out here daring death itself to fuck with me because she's gonna have something to say about it.

Thing is, anything that is within my ability to give? I will give. Begging doesn't feature. If you need it and I can give it to you, I will give it to you. If I can't, no amount of begging is going to change my socio-economic status, so it wouldn't matter to begin with.

I imagine for a 14 year old, having a place to go where she doesn't have to put on any kind of "performance" for the adults, where she can just be herself and not worry about what anyone thinks, must be cathartic.

And I'm not some virulent misandrist, obviously. But I see how boys do tend to get benefit of the doubt where girls don't. And I think that's bullshit. I don't like what boys get away with, and I ALSO don't like what girls get away with. We should all just be better to eachother.

And I see this pop up culturally ALL THE TIME. People being like "If he could just find the right girl, she'd fix all his many issues" and I'm not innocent of this either. I've had those thoughts too.

One of the most universal stories is basically the premise of "Beauty and the Beast", there are versions of that story that go back to the Younger Dryas period of human evolution. There is a historical precedent for women desiring men who are in some way "damaged" for the fantasy of "fixing them"

I might ramble a bit here. Just fair warning. As a guy, I have complicated feelings on the topic. Especially since I have actually been abused by some women here and there. There's some evo-psyche backing to the idea that women select for men as "projects"

And also, people who end up there for killing child predators do tend in general to do pretty well in prison. You walk in already having earned a fair bit of respect from the other inmates.

Yeah, man! My teenager met the boy she's currently crushing on in this organization and she just did a whole conference networking with businesspeople in the state while competing for who could break down a roast chicken best.

My guy, I have some EXCELLENT news for you, this exists. It's FCCLA, formerly "Future Homemakers of America", and boys are VERY MUCH part of the organization now. We may be a hot mess of generational dysfunction, but it seems the kids are alright.
