I had the honor of meeting civil rights advocate Joan Trumpauer Mulholland and her son Loki, who are in Portland for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

As the fight for civil rights in this country continues, we can learn so much from the stories of advocates like Joan.

I met with school superintendents and community advocates about how ICE enforcement activities are terrorizing students and families across NW Oregon. It's unacceptable that students don't feel safe at school. Kristi Noem must resign or be impeached.

There is a Constitutional right to counsel in criminal cases, and it is in everyone's best interest to have an efficient, reliable, and fair criminal justice system. I urge my Senate colleagues to join the House and fully fund the Federal Defender Services program.

Good news: the Trump administration reversed an abrupt decision to cancel about $2 billion in funding for mental health services just 24 hours after the announcement was made. Your voices matter. Keep calling. We will continue to fight.

A majority of child care workers are paid poverty wages and rely on public assistance. We cannot solve America’s “Child Care Crunch” if wages remain unsustainably low for those who are doing the important work of taking care of young children.

With Kristi Noem at the Department of Homeland Security, agents are terrorizing immigrant children and families across the country and violating civil rights and human rights. I have signed onto articles of impeachment against her.

As a mother and a member of the @equality.house.gov and @demwomencaucus.bsky.social, I call on the Supreme Court to strike down categorical bans on young trans students participating in school sports.

I'm joining Governor Tina Kotek's challenge to highlight good news in Oregon. I recently met with Constructing Hope to thank their former Executive Director Pat Daniels and to acknowledge the work of Noah Koné, their new Executive Director. 🧵

On this day 123 years ago, the first Korean Americans arrived in the U.S. Today on Korean American Day, we celebrate the community and the countless contributions by Korean Americans to the U.S. and to Oregon.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Roadless Rule. I call on the Trump administration to reverse course and protect our public lands for the next generation and generations to come.

Manufactured housing can be a low-cost option, but it won’t be affordable with high utility bills. We should not take away energy efficiency standards; they lead to lower energy costs and healthier homes.

DHS is creating fear in communities across the country; it’s part of the administration's strategy to divide us. Let's continue to make our voices heard and to protest nonviolently.

David and his wife in Tillamook saw their premiums increase by a whopping 474 percent after Republicans refused to extend the ACA tax credits. We are forcing a vote today and I will be a yes for David, and for all Oregonians who are seeing their premiums skyrocket. You deserve better.
January 8, 2026 at 9:35 PM
We must stop the steep increase in health care costs by extending the ACA tax credits. Republican inaction caused costs to increase at the end of 2025, and people in NW Oregon are feeling the effects. I call on my colleagues across the aisle to join me in voting yes.

Portlanders did not want or need the National Guard in the city. Meanwhile, ICE continues to violently harass community members. Safety has never been the administration's priority.
January 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM
It is a somber day at the U.S. Capitol as we remember the violent January 6th insurrection and the harm perpetrated by criminal MAGA extremists who tried to overturn the election.
