i disagree. considering johnson is simply refusing to swear in a democratically elected congressperson, midterms wouldn't be anything other than theater anyway. so republicans'll allow midterms to happen, they just won't accept any result that isn't 100% of the vote going to the fascists.

The thing with bluesky using AI to moderate images isn't that it's training on them, think for 10 fucking seconds about it, but that they are saying "yeah we outsourced that shit entirely, we got no control over it. It says label, we label" etc

i say it a lot, but it is worth repeating that while capitalism and white supremacy (and other institutionalized prejudices like patriarchy) often happily co-exist, whenever there is friction, capitalism will always play second fiddle to worldviews pushing for rigid societal stratification

It's true! When I studied economics, I was stunned by the ROI of social programs. Every dollar spent on childcare returns about $2.80 to the economy, and healthcare delivers even greater returns with broader social impact.

For every €1 provided through a Basic Income For Artists pilot program in Ireland, the government got €1.46 back. So it’s being made permanent.

Over and over we see it. It saves public money to provide public housing. And it makes public money to provide basic income.

We can’t afford to NOT do it.
