I enjoy the absurdity of humanity. Perfect is boring. Things to say about communities, tech, culture, leadership, L&D, and social dynamics.

Writing a book titled Control Is for Amateurs.

Founder of Engaged Organizations. Prior, The Community Roundtable.
Trump cannot incite Americans to react in violence so they are trying to start a war over __?___ in order to respond with sweeping violence.

The unmitigated shame this administration is bringing down on America is going to reach far into the future, no matter what comes next.

Who in Boston doesn’t love a good tea party, with a dose of resistance on the side?

For those who celebrate Christmas, Etsy has some fun 2025 ornaments.

~600 people protesting at the ICE “facility” in Burlington, MA yesterday in 30° temps.

Looks like our retirees are as feisty as ever. Thankful for their weekly commitment.

The weather outside is frightful…

…which calls for porridge.

(and no, not really frightful, just raw 😛)

Funny, same here… teaching myself to draw/paint and embroider

Also, my 15yo had pie for breakfast and left me some.

It was the sweetest thing 🥰🙃😛

Good morning!

There is nothing more beautiful than the the morning sun on the first frosting of snow in an old New England village.

Happy Monday!

Intent on carrying my good vacation vibes from Ireland into this week.

What’s your intention for the week?
December 1, 2025 at 12:00 PM
Yep.

My classmates make me proud. Just in this photo is a judge and the head of sales for a large pharma company - they are among but not the most accomplished women in my class.

I took my daughter and she was *fascinated* by how authentic/down to earth they were. Worth gold to have her see that.

25% of students major in STEM fields.

Add a campus designed by Franklin Law Olmsted and graduates like Chloé Zhao, director of Hamnet (which I need to see and heard was amazing) - what’s not to like?

The older I get, the more I crave connection to nature - or maybe it’s not age but having the time to notice and enjoy it.

I find it mystical, soothing, and inspiring.

Happy Sunday!

Thankful today for so many things, mostly people and nature 🍗🥧🍂

The world is 💩 right now, but also still magical.

Thankful for places that cultivate the magic 🍂 🌍 ✨

One of my favorite books in this category is The Library Book by Susan Orlean.

I second The Boys in the Boat and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

And Where the World Ends, about a little known but crazy story.

It’s hard to heard all the cats here in the U.S. - and hard to see the extent of the resistance - but it is happening all the time, all over.

Proud of all of you 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Enjoying the Southern edition of the #resistance - as seen on the MSNBC clip.

Over the last few years, I have been teaching myself to draw and paint.

I finally took a class this fall, which was enlightening and it amused me that I struggled to give up control… given I am writing a book called Control Is for Amateurs.

But then again, I AM an amateur 😏🙂

I hosted potlucks for friends with kids when mine was younger and we do have board game nights but not on the regular.

I saw this idea recently and I love it - have people over to do all your admin crap together, with beer and chips 🍿

When historians look back on this time, they will see its misogyny on women’s faces.

We should not have needed the Epstein files to know.

Also WTF?

I love this - we have, collectively, forgotten how to care for and re-use things.

Take these brackets, for example. We took them off a wall and they were a rusted mess - and my husband’s instincts were to chuck them.

A little citric acid and oil and they look useable again.

I finally found the recipe/directions that creates a perfect (and perfectly browned bird) from the NyTimes, although they have put the recipe behind their NYTimes Cooking subscription 😡

In the end, it’s the business model.

They convinced their customers that engagement = likes/responses instead of differentiating engagement as a spectrum resulting in a range of behaviors, all of which have different value.

Validation is the easiest/cheapest of the active engagement behaviors.

Facebook and Twitter seem to actively pursue trolls. It’s unlike anything I have seen in any other business.

This post churned up so much dreck.

So many questions:
- How many of the trolls are legitimate?
- Why do people invest so much time being hostile?
- How do they feel good doing this?
