One solid way you can fight back today & everyday is to look out for your neighbor, & not just in theory. If you’re in LA, someone in your building probably needs a mask. Someone living outside probably needs a meal. That person being stopped by the cops needs someone to record what’s happening.
pplscitycouncil.bsky.social
The way forward is the same as it’s always been - organize your neighborhood, your household, your workplace. Nobody is coming to save us except ourselves. Look out for one another.
riccisergienko.bsky.social
It's all building on the same narrative / "Antifa" rhetoric

Saying this doesn't mean you should back down and stop organizing. It means looking at historical references and adapting how you move.

Did the FBI label the Black Panther Party as a “domestic terrorist org” before unleashing COINTELPRO? (hint: no, they were labeled as extremists & and a threat to the internal security of the nation)

What do you think the feds counterterrorism units are currently up to?
riccisergienko.bsky.social
semantics arguing about whether Trump can designate a “domestic group” as “terrorists”

When Joe Biden got elected, he issued a new initiative that would declare environmental activists, anti-fascists, etc as “domestic violent extremists.”

Symbols such as “ACAB” as used to “ID extremists”

You shouldn't underestimate the government's intent on following thru on these operations. That's why lawyers saying things like "Trump can't do that! The law doesn't allow it!" is so dangerous.

Plenty of examples to pull from: 40s-50s red scare, COINTELPRO, cold war COIN, post 9/11 "anti-terror"

For years, local governments & police departments have cooperated with federal agencies through the Joint Terrorism Task Forces. Now, through Trump's new NPSM-7 directive, these task forces will focus on “leftist” groups.

History shows us what happens when our movements are targeted by the feds.
In NSPM-7, “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence,” President Trump directs the Justice Department, the FBI, and other national security agencies and departments to fight his version of political violence in America, retooling a network of Joint Terrorism Task Forces to focus on “leftist” political violence in America. This vast counterterrorism army, made up of federal, state, and local agents would, as Trump aide Stephen Miller said, form “the central hub of that effort.”

NSPM-7 directs a new national strategy to “disrupt” any individual or groups “that foment political violence,” including “before they result in violent political acts.”

More workers were abducted today than pretty much any other single day over the course of the months-long federal occupation of Los Angeles.

We are still under siege. There is no other choice but to organize and fight back. Look out for one another and defend your neighbors!

Assata died as an elder, living in freedom, not a captive. That's the beauty.

Assata Shakur joins the ancestors a free woman. She did not die bound by the carceral system and she did not pass away living in a land that never respected or accepted her.

Assata taught us that liberation can not be bargained for, it must be taken.

Rest Free, Assata.

An absolute giant. Assata Shakur’s memory will forever haunt empire. A million dollar bounty put on her head by the state and they never got her. She died free.

RIP ASSATA

ICE / feds continue to terrorize communities all over LA. Home Depots and car washes are hit by kidnapping operations daily (in addition to other raids / roving patrols). Stay vigilant & look out for your neighbors.

new from @kylietcheung.bsky.social in @teenvogue.com: recently, men have impersonated plainclothes ICE agents to assault women—only possible, she argues, because state agents commit violence with impunity.

"To be clear, men wouldn’t be posing as ICE agents and assaulting women if ICE didn’t exist."
How ICE Raids Are Making It Easier for Civilian Men to Assault Immigrant Women
"This phenomenon is only possible because of the outsized power that state agents have always had to abuse and control women and victims' bodies," argues Kylie Cheung.

A family in North Gaza needs to flee to South due to heavy bombing. Ahmed's wife is pregnant and he has two daughters, both less than two years old. His parents are sick and he has 4 young sisters. They can't walk 10 kms by foot. Transportation cost is $400. Save them!

I think the problem with rallying around the most privileged when they've been targeted is that it never trickles down.

they're touted as examples for "all of us" but it's not actually true.

During a scuffle to move out the same van, federal agents just grabbed a protestor and brought them inside the facility.

These people all believe in the system. The person above is a *literal* fed - who knows what she has done to surveil and target radicals and antifascists. Why would you ever fucking listen to her???
riccisergienko.bsky.social
This is very frustrating and the crackdown is literally in our fucking face and people are saying “well actually the law prevents that from happening!”

They will bend, change, break, disregard the laws.

There is no “democracy.” The law & constitution are what the admin says they are.
riccisergienko.bsky.social
Literal federal agent doesn’t want you to worry about what Trump is saying about “Antifa”

They’re going to be saying “they can’t do that! It’s illegal!” while they’re on the train to camps ffs

It’s dangerous to listen to these people.

PSA: A "Major Terrorist Organization" (MTO) is not a thing. The Immigration and Nationality Act *delegates* power to the State Department to designate *FOREIGN* terrorist organizations (FTOs) based on certain criteria. It doesn't apply to domestic orgs.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!
riccisergienko.bsky.social
Everyone gather around and listen to the Fed! Surely someone we should trust right now!
riccisergienko.bsky.social
Literal federal agent wants you to believe in “the law” 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

(clarifying the law isn’t resisting or taking action btw. actually taking action & helping protect people is “resisting”)
asharangappa.bsky.social
I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action

This case was appealed up to the Supreme Court and they ended up allowing the Feds to continue with their race-based roving patrols in Los Angeles.

All I’m saying we shouldn’t be loudly proclaiming “they can’t do that!” when it’s been proven that they can in-fact bend the law to their will…

🚨 In Los Angeles, ICE and Border Patrol are banned from stopping and questioning people based solely on:

- Their race/ethnicity
- Speaking Spanish or having an accent
- Being at a specific place (e.g. hanging outside Home Depot where day laborers congregate)
- Doing specific work (e.g. landscaping)
The Stop/Arrest Plaintiffs' Ex Parte Application for TRO (ECF No. 45) is GRANTED.
a. As required by the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution, Defendants shall be enjoined from conducting detentive stops in this District
unless the agent or officer has reasonable suspicion that the person to be stopped is within the United States in violation of U.S. immigration law.
b. In connection with paragraph (1), Defendants may not rely solely on the factors below, alone or in combination, to form reasonable suspicion for a detentive stop, except as permitted by law:
i. Apparent race or ethnicity;
ii. Speaking Spanish or speaking English with an accent;
iii. Presence at a particular location (e.g. bus stop, car wash, tow yard, day
laborer pick up site, agricultural site, etc.); or
iv. The type of work one does.

Of course “Antifa” does not exist as an organization! I think it is fine & good to continue to point that out.

Also don’t want people to think we should just succumb to this. We must continue to stand up & fight. I think lawyers should spend more time messaging around how ppl can protect themselves
riccisergienko.bsky.social
it doesnt need to *literally* mean “Antifa is now officially labeled a domestic terrorism org,” it means that the surveillance & repression of anti-fascists is going to get cranked

Maybe I didn’t need to clarify? Idk. Want to disrupt the narrative set by The Smart Lawyers who believe in the system.
