Take up for teenagers is all about the network effects of smart phones. When everyone else is on whichever app is flavour of the month, pretty hard to resist them.

In this case, Bazball and rejuvenating "proven Test cricketers who had lost their way in a struggling team" being initially successful but no longer working with a new cohort of younger players and with opponents who'd worked out your system.

“These new powers do not go far enough to protect pedestrians. It’s disappointing not to see a nationwide prohibition.”

Our @charitycat.bsky.social responds to the news that local authorities will receive legal powers to restrict pavement parking. https://www.livingstreets.org.uk/pavement-parking

Not another consultation but legislation to give powers to local transport authorities (including new strategic authorities) to ban pavement parking across their area. Could have legislated for this in the current English Devo Bill if it hadn't taken five years to respond to the 2020 consultation.

What odds for the Government's response to the pavement parking consultation being another consultation?

Response from @cyclinguk.bsky.social: “It’s great to see the government encouraging more walking, wheeling and cycling...[but] we urge the government to invest in a major new road safety awareness campaign; the first step towards safer behaviour on our roads.”

Our response to the Government’s Road Safety Strategy
We welcome the new Road Safety Strategy as a vital step towards safer roads, while also urging the government to back it up with education and a major road safety awareness campaign
