This week’s episode of Air-Conditioned shines the light on rock between 1967 and 1970. It was a musically rich time, and you can hear it in these fine tracks by Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, Cream, Allman Brothers, Steppenwolf, Blind Faith, Led Zeppelin, James Gang, and Derek & The Dominos. 1/2

Our MAGA Representative, Andy Ogles, has done nothing to address the gun violence situation that has caused so much loss and pain. In fact, he sent out Christmas cards with his family standing in front of their tree holding the very kind of guns used in many of these mass shootings.

I live in TN District 5, the same district that runs from Nashville (where these parent lost their child) to my county, which is closer to Alabama than Nashville. Creative gerrymandering by the TN MAGA supermajority ensured Nashville would never be a Democratic stronghold. 2/3

60 Minutes’ segment about parents maintaining the bedrooms of their children slain in mass shootings was powerful. The Parents who lost their child in the Covenant School mass killing had special resonance for me. 1/3

I remember standing in a Memphis department store, Goldsmiths, in the area where televisions were sold. There was a wall of these TVs, and dozens of adults watching the Kennedy funeral, and John F. Kennedy Jr. saluted as the casket passed. Dozens of adults around me wept. 1/2

I’ve pulled a handful of live and studio tracks. To you Todd fans, you know I can’t cover it all in an hour, but I hope this speaks to you, and maybe win some new fans. 2/3

The beloved Tennessee Troubadour Todd Snider passed away Nov 14th, supposedly of Walking Pneumonia. It was a shock to everyone in the Americana world, especially in Nashvile. This 223rd Episode of Air-Conditioned is a tribute to this beloved singer-songwriter. #toddsnider 1/3

This development isn't surprising, sadly. All the years and life experience of creatives are being drained and repurposed to "allow users to remake songs using artificial intelligence tools." If there's any positive aspect to this, I would love to know. #KLAY 1/2

I also gathered great tracks by Laurie Anderson, Yo La Tengo, Beastie Boys, John Trudell, and G Love Love & Special Sauce to bring it all home. 2/2

We’re fans of Slow Horses, and the show’s theme song with Mick Jagger. Realizing I needed to think about this week’s episode of Air-Conditioned, I started there, and rounded up Morphine, Talking Heads, Soul Coughing, Chuck Prophet, St Vincent, Television, and Elvis Costello & The Attractions. 1/3

Kristin Hersh, Graham Coxon, The Clientele, Mercury Rev, and Soft Machine round out this fine gathering. It was a pleasure rounding up this music.

Florence + The Machine, Madison Cunningham, and Hannah Frances are uniquely gifted artists who just released some great new music. They get love on this 200th episode of Air-Conditioned, as well as Radiohead, Mitski, Dirty Projectors, Bjork, Dust City Opera, and James Blake. 1/3

Tonight’s 60 Minutes opening segment featured Norah O'Donnell interviewing the self-important con artist currently in the gilded Oval Office. Thankfully, this wasn't a capitulation to trump, as the segment only succeeded in allowing his lack of self-awareness to strut his massive character flaws.

Music from Psycho, The Wicker Man, The Addams Family, Bewitched, Jaws, Rocky Horror, and Halloween (of course) set the tone, as well as bits from The Shining and ads for Robot Monster and Plan 9 From Outer Space. 2/3

Nashville pop/rockers Will Kimbrough, Bill Lloyd, and Joe, Marc’s Brother, are in the mix, as well as Badfinger and The Redwalls. If you are in the mood for some super-melodic pop-rock, this edition of Air-Conditioned should hit the sweet spot. 2/3

This 218th episode of Air-Conditioned will spotlight Neil and Tim Finn — their solo and duo work, as well as Crowded House and Split Enz. We'll also explore two more acts from “Down Under,” Paul Kelly & The Messengers and The Swingers. #CrowdedHouse 1/3

We also have Memphis’ own Keith Sykes in the mix, plus Darlingside, Little Feat, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals. All good ingredients for proper Air-Conditioning and tuning wherever you are.

This 218th episode of Air-Conditioned keeps things organic with great music by Tracy Chapman, Joan Armatrading, Girly Man, Punch Brothers, Tori Amos, Velvet Underground, Buffalo Springfield, Francis Dunnery, Susanna Hoffs, Matthew Sweet, and Bonnie Raitt. Good stuff! 1/3

I exclaimed, “That’s a damn good show!” She said, “I’m not done yet!” Sure enough, the jam continued with James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis, BB King, Stevie Wonder, Buddy Miles, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Ike & Tina Turner, and Martha & The Vandellas. Damn! I should let her do the programming.

Today is my Sweetie's birthday and she curated this episode. The result is a really groovin’ feel-good show. Along with Sam & Dave, she selected some great tracks by Aretha Franklin, the Rolling Stones, Lou Ann Barton, Olu Dara, Etta James, Tom Waits, Tito Puente, Otis Redding, and Carla Thomas.
